Often referred to as the “Honeymoon Capital” of Uganda, Sipi Falls is a collection of three spectacular waterfalls perched on the edge of Mount Elgon. This 3-day tour is an escape into a cooler, mist-filled world where the air is scented with Arabica coffee and the landscape is dominated by vertical cliffs and emerald-green valleys.
Whether you are looking for the adrenaline of abseiling down a 100-meter cliff or the serenity of a sunset walk overlooking the Karamoja plains, Sipi offers a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. You will journey into the heart of the Sebei culture, learning why this corner of Eastern Uganda is as famous for its world-class runners as it is for its world-class coffee.
Your journey begins with a drive from Entebbe or Kampala, heading east through the lush Mabira Forest and across the Nile Bridge in Jinja. After a lunch stop in Mbale town, you will begin the winding ascent up the slopes of Mount Elgon. Upon arrival in Sipi, you will check into your lodge—most of which are built on cliff edges with direct views of the falls. In the late afternoon, your guide will lead you on a Sunset Walk to a local plateau. From this vantage point, you can watch the sun dip below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the vast Karamoja plains far below.

After breakfast, you will embark on the flagship activity: the three waterfalls hike. You will start with the highest fall, which plunges 100 meters and is the iconic image of Sipi. The trail winds through local community farms and banana plantations to the second waterfall (80m), which features a hidden cave behind the water curtain, and finally to the third, smallest fall (75m), where you can enjoy a natural shower in the spray. In the afternoon, you will join a local household for a Sipi Coffee Tour. You’ll walk through the Arabica plantations, pick ripe cherries, and participate in the traditional process of roasting and grinding your own cup of world-class coffee over an open fire.

For those seeking a thrill, the final morning is the perfect time for abseiling. You will be harnessed at the top of the main 100-meter waterfall and descend down the rock face right next to the thundering water—an experience that is both terrifying and exhilarating. If you prefer a slower pace, you can visit a local community project or a craft center run by Sabiny women. Following a farewell lunch at the lodge, you will begin your descent from the mountain and head back toward Kampala or Entebbe, arriving in the late evening.
